Cabinet Maker wood processing situation in Myanmar
Myanmar is a country full of abundance with teak. So, teak industry is kind of Myanmar traditional economic. However, difficult to search in skilled worker for teak production because of lack of knowledge in wood industry. Youth are also need to have skill and knowledge, new technology, new machine usage and enough to know general knowledge through CVT’s courses.
In order to achieve professional skills, there have three pillars that teach theoretically, practically and learning in the work place. CVT is training for the two pillars but it need the enterprise collaboration and support. The apprentice have to attend one day per week in CVT Myanmar. The curriculum teaching are for this subject are Material Science, Production Technology, Technical Drawing and Technical Calculations, English, Myanmar and General Knowledge. Youth from different furniture working field would exchange their techniques as well as social relationship so that they gain a lot of knowledge.
Practical Training Course
The objective of offering practical training course is to give the apprentice in the practical knowledge in all aspects of their profession and to know how to put the theory into practice. Apprentice have to practice two to three weeks for four times throughout three years. Following practice lesson are organized by CVT.
PTC 1- Hand Tool
PTC 2- Portable Machine
PTC 3- Heavy Machine
PTC 4- Finalized the wood processing
There will be plant trip one time per year after finishing the practical training course.
Certificate Awarding Ceremony
After finishing three years training courses apprentices have to take final exam as usual. Final exam should be taken as not only theory but also practical. For the practical exam, apprentice have to finish the raw material into practical designing within twenty hours. There will be Customer Talks to deal with customer as well as to book the products.
After finishing CVT three years course the youth become professional at related field as a Manager or as a Supervisor because the study they learned from CVT teach them combine with practical work so that they can actually take those advantage as a working competency. Even basic carpenter, they have opportunity if they can combine practical work with raw material systematically. Some apprentice start working at their own business base on small investment to produce and repair wood processing.
